Remember: Reflecting on 2024
by Rochelle Melander
As we approach the end of the year, it’s helpful to take time to reflect. In Elly Griffiths book, The Stranger Diaries, the protagonist says this about why she keeps a diary:
“It’s to make sense of things. … Nothing’s as bad if you put it in writing. It helps you to take control, order things. Find a pattern, like you said.”
Several years ago, author Rachel Hollis talked about reviewing her calendar at the end of the year. She looked at every single appointment and identified what purchases, activities, and jobs were:
+Her best life
+Worthwhile
+A waste of time, money, or energy
Doing that activity helped Hollis to plan better, scheduling her days with more of the activities that she valued.
Take some time over this holiday weekend to review your 2024 calendar. Once you have a list, plan to let go of anything that is no longer serving you. Then note what you want to do more of in the new year.
I’ll be providing you with more journaling inspiration as we wrap up the year—so stay tuned!
