Wednesday Writing Prompt: The Facebook Profile by Rochelle Melander
Last summer, I had the opportunity to teach writing at the Milwaukee Art Museum. As we worked with students in developing characters, we asked them to choose a character from a painting and then create a Facebook profile for that person.
Try it. Take a character from your novel and craft a Facebook profile for him or her. I use my artist sketchbook for this (and some colored markers). If you need a template, English teacher Michelle Quirk has posted one online.
Better it: Make this writing exercise more fun by developing profiles for multiple characters and let them interact!
Your turn: How else have you used tools from social media to develop characters?
